Need help sourcing info on accidental gun deaths

Hello,
I'm thinking about selecting gun safety as a topic for a speech assignment. I was wondering if you folks knew of any quotable sources for accidental gun death statistics? How do I go about finding out about accidental deaths that happened in California last year? Any help is greatly appreciated.

I found some good safety stuff on the DOJ site, but came up empty on the statistics. I'll keep looking.
