Problem I had with Galleryofguns.com / On Target and how it got handled. PLEASE READ

I recently ordered a Marlin rifle from Davidsons (aka galleryofguns.com) and had it shipped to On Target in Laguna Niguel. I like having guns shipped there because you can shoot them during your ten day wait.

The rifle showed up fast (as always) and On Target called to let me know it was there. I showed up, DROS'd and paid. I then asked for a lane to go shoot it. Uh Oh. Gun is broken. Magazine tube is bent, won't come out of the rifle. SUCKS.

Well guess what? The On Target guy (Taek is his name - awesome guy) says "no problem, I'll handle it." He calls the distributor for me to have them send me a new gun. Within two hours, the galleryofguns.com has called me, AND On Target to let us know they are sending a new gun TODAY, and also a return label to ship the old broken one back. The guy at galleryofguns even let me know he personally inspected the rifle they are sending as a replacement to make sure it was good to go.

Long story short - S*** happens, but the way both of these places handled it was impressive to say the least. On Target went above and beyond and called and handled everything for me, when a lot of places would have just said "good luck" and pointed me at the door. Galleryofguns.com taking the time to open the new box, inspect the gun, and send it out right away without even needing the old one to come back first also blew me away.

If you can, make sure to give these companies some business!

Hey I've had problems with Davidsons guns and they are great to work out the problems.

Taek is a great guy. On-Target is terrific. Glad it worked out.

Don't know about On Target, but I have been happy with Davidsons.

with all the threads calling out the shady folks/companies, its important to also reward the good guys with some good old fashioned word of mouth advertising.

          Thanks for sharing your story.

Was at On-Target today, the guy that helped me out wasn't Taek, but another guy who was really friendly and made it really comfortable to just hang around.

Good to know! I was avoiding having Davidson's purchases sent there because once when I called up they insisted that they would be charging additional fees above and beyond what's on the website, even though Davidson's said that would not be the case...

Anyway I'm at On-Target all the time so that will make it easy to pick up purchases!

                  What Marlin did you get??

On Target DOES NOT charge other fees on a purchase from Davidsons. I've had a couple of guns get shipped there and never been charged a penny more.

If by "additional fees" you mean the amount of money most CA FFLs charge to receive firearms from OOS dealers, that's pretty much standard practice.
In my experience, it's usually at least $40 + $25 DROS with some local FFLs (which don't get my business) wanting up to $150 per firearm. IMO, it's pretty annoying considering FFLs charge waay less in other states ($15-25 in TX including the background check, for example)

Now, I'm really surprised that On-Target treated you like that. Do they have a special distribution relationship with Davidsons? I could see them being responsible if they sold you a gun out of their inventory (or they ordered it on your behalf). If they were just the transfer FFL, that's definitely going above and beyond the call of duty.

It is important to mention that when you order a gun from galleryofguns.com and have it shipped to On Target (or anywhere else for that matter) those "receiving fees" that dealers charge are NOT charged. Galleryofguns is a distributor, not another gun store, so there is no extra fee charged by the dealer that receives a gun on your behalf the way there would normally be when you buy a gun online and have it shipped. The price you see quoted on the site is the price you pay. NO extra cost.

And Davidsons / GoG stands behind their sales. If it breaks, they say they will fix or replace it, period, end of story.

My transactions with them have been smooth and the local FFL I use with them is tops. No hidden fees or BS and always the best price of any of the local FFLs.

Good to hear. On Target is really close to my girlfriend's house and she's been dying to get more shooting in. I guess I'll be paying them a visit soon.
