    Reno shooting range?

Anybody ever shoot at the Washoe County Shooting Facility, 21555 Pyramid Lake Highway, Reno, NV 89510? Any other places in the Reno area you would recommend? TIA.

Been There, a great place to shoot. I go ther everytime I go to The Big Reno Gun Show. Take the saddle off your ar15 and let her run free!

They have target positions you can move from 25 yards to two hundred yards. They also have gongs posted at 300, 400, 500, 600 and 700 yards. If you have a long range shooter, that's the place to go. My remington 700pss in 7mm Rem. mag. loves it out there.

Ive been there on various occasions but prefer the outdoor range just east of Carson city quite a bit better.

GRRREAT range, nice guy running it. 1000yd stuff too.

Refreshing to see a sign "please check your fully automatic weapons in with the rangemaster" (inexact quote but you get the idea).

I found it 2-3yrs ago because my favorite spot in the desert was closed/posted. (Some concrete pads west of Hwy 80 near "Patrick" (12+ mi NE of Reno/Sparks) and not too far away from the Waltham pet food plant.)

Gotta hit it again next time I'm in Reno.

It's Nevada. 95% of the state is a shooting range.... Go have fun.

edit: maybe closer to 99%. Just clean up when you're done!!

Has anyone been outside of Reno to a desert area to shoot? Does anyone have any directions to get to a good place to go shoot? Does the Washoe county range let you fire rapid fire?

It is attitudes like that that got Bill's fav spot closed. ( I know where that spot is, shame too.) Please drown yourself in the Sacramento River. People live here, it is not your personal playground.

And yes, the Washoe range is awesome for distance shooting.
Carson range is nice and goes out to 300 meters or so. Free and with no RSO's so it is self policing, or the locals will police you if you get out of line. Whichever you prefer.
And God said \"taketh your rifles, all of ye, all but those unto the nation of California, for exempt must their rifles be and the resth are forlorn.\" So sayth the Lord.

I'm going to the Washoe County range this weekend with some buddies. Been there twice before and had a really good time with it.

Huh? Nobody lives where I've shot. It's all public land. I've never shot next to/near/anyhwere remotely close to anyone's house/livestock/outhouse/shed. Maybe you have me and my attitude confused with some other Californian. Good stereotyping though.

You missed the point entirely. Typical.

Tell me your point then. Apparently I am too stupid to understand.

You're the one stereotyping Californians. Explain what is so "typical" of me or my attitude.

Is it my attitude that says Nevada is public land and thereby can be used by the public? Or my attitude that I can shoot on public land? Or my attitude of always finding a safe place to shoot on public land? Or my attitude that makes me clean up after I shoot as to leave no trace of my shooting?

You seem to have all the answers and everything figured out. So if you have a specific example, please cite it. Let's see if my attitudes coincide with your example.

Washoe County's public range only goes out to 200 yards. They have 1000 yd range but it is ONLY for matches. If anyone finds themselves out that way between April 20 and April 22, stop by the FCSA match and say hi. If you are out there Friday, you can probably shoot a 50 and you will definately see some of the top 50 shooters in the world.

The FACT that people from out of state come and on a regular basis TRASH the land. Guns, ATV's, trucks you name it. People have the idea that Nevada is California's backyard playground. Those types of people got Bills spot closed, and is making BLM consider locking off SWATHS of land to recreational shooting and off-roading around Washoe and Clark Counties. They come, trash it and the locals suffer when they close down more and more spots.

                              Do you get it now?
