    Sack-Ups/Silicon Gun Socks reviews

Hello guys. I did a search for past reviews for this item, and couldn't find any.

I bought Sack-Ups brand Silicon gun socks for all of my firearms a while back. I like that they prevent storage and handling wear. Minor mystery scratches aren't appearing on my firearms from storage and moving around, which is great.

I haven't noticed any rust on my guns either from storage. ( I CLP of course)

Does anyone here have any review they could give me from their experience with these bags?
Do they do a good job preventing rust and wicking away moisture?
Do they, at the very least, not contribute to rust?

Silicone sock bags work well. I have a couple for my rifles. I could use more. There was to be a group buy of them here with the CG logo possibly on it. I don't recall what happened to that plan.

I have never encountered a rust problem with guns in my safe, they aren't all sacked up, so I can't really say how well they prevent rust. I can say they haven't promoted rust in my experience. I don't think they "wick away" moisture so much as make a water-repelling barrier that humidity doesn't really want to cross.

I do really like the thicker, fleece-type ones for the couple of beautiful pistols that I really don't want to ding or scratch. They work exceptionally well in that respect. I have never tried the thin type that stretch over long guns.

I also have made and used a redneck variety for pistols by cutting up some cheap and thick winter socks that I never wore (made without cotton or wool), turning them inside out and spraying with aerosol silicone spray, then returning them to fuzzy side in. Those have seemed to work just as well, but they don't look as classy. They do help me remember which gun is in which sock because they don't all look alike.

I store my rifles in them. I have never noticed any rust on my guns and they keep them from getting scratched.

        excellent buy for around $5

Almost all of my handguns are in Bore-stores and the rifles in Sack-ups. No rust issues.

About 2/3 of my rifles are in them. Mostly to prevent dings and scratches.

I love them. I found out about them when Randy at Rettings gave me a used one to take home a rifle in. Now all my rifles and pistols are warm and comfy.

I thought about suggesting a group buy on these just the other day.

I was looking online everywhere I could think for someplace where I could buy in bulk. Biggest pack I could find was six. Hardly scratches the surface (no pun intended).

I was even considering buying silicon impregnated material and having a seamstress make me up 50 of them and I would sell off at my cost whatever I didn't use/want. I may still do that if I had enough interested perhaps I could get enough made that it wold be worth the some seamstress' time. Would have to be stretchy and have a pull cord.

Three sizes, handguns, long guns, long guns w/scopes.
I would join in with my volume if someone else were to do it so long as they kept it reasonable. I would think these could be made pretty darn cheap.

Thinking out loud here for the moment.

                    +1...
For Bore-Stores. Everything in the safe has a Bore-Store around it to keep it dry and warm on those chilly nights. Plus they are great at keeping collection pieces looking like collection pieces (no scratches). Never had a problem with rust, although i do inspect and wipe down every so often.
