Ideas for Saturday in San Jose

What's there to do this Saturday in San Jose?

I am taking Comrade wife to her business meeting and I will have most of the day to wander about aimlessly. (one of my favorite activities) Anything going on? Any good gun shops? We'll be staying at the Wyndham. Any ideas are appreciated.

Suggest you head out to Reed's Shop off of Alum Rock; maybe head up 880 to San Leandro to look at Trader's; then head back down and check out Target Masters in Milpitas; then maybe head over to Sportman's Supply in Campbell; possibly look at Reed's Indoor Range off of 101 and Montague (well, ya gotta go on the little frontage road that parallels the freeway to get there).

If you intend on shooting, there are a number of ranges in the area.

If you're into tech, stop by Best Buy / Fry's although you have those in SoCal as well, so nothing new there.

Check out Santana Row if you're up for upscale shopping - a nice place to spend the day if you want to check out hot girls and upscale stores. Maybe swing by Valley Fair, they are also fairly upscale (right across the street). What kind of food are you into? San Jose's got quite a variety to offer.

There's a high-power match at the Santa Clara County range. You can show up and borrow a club rifle for the match, but registration's at 8:00 and the match gets underway shortly thereafter. If you're interested I can get you more info.

I would skip Sportsman's Supply unless you are just bored stiff. Guys running the place are not too pleasant to deal with, and the store is really small, so they generally don't have much of interest. Just my opinion. I would go to the Gun Exchange over on Almaden Expressway. He has a huge inventory of used guns and always something interesting. Seems like he always has a big pile of odd stuff bought from estates. Once I found an old hand operated bullet cannelure machine there--pretty cool but I've never used it. Sort of like a gun show in a store.

I would say the Gun Exchange definately has more character then Sportsman Supply although both are small.

I guess you could go check out the Winchester Mstery House. I've never been, but it's seems to be the touristy thing to do in SJ. I think the Mystery Spot in Santa Cruz is much more interesting though. Too bad you weren't here last weekend, there was a big race!

Oh! You can drive around and look at overpriced real estate!

The Winchester Mystery House is right across from Santana Row - so if you did Santana Row, Valley Fair, and Winchester Mystery House, you'd get them all done at once.

There is also a street right there called Olin, along with Winchester - gun historic to say the least. You can take pictures of the street signs, I guess!

I would suggest going to Mel Cotton's Sporting Goods on 1266 W. San Carlos - lots of cool outdoorsy type stuff (not just guns). After that, you should hit up the pink poodle club right down the street to see some hot woman and get drunk! ha, ha

Are there any good adult "entertainment" bars in San-Jose?

I can't say I'm a patron, but I keep hearing the same names over and over on the radio - Kit Kat Club, Brass Rail, and Pink Poodle come to mind.

If you want a better selection, try Broadway in San Francisco.. Again, not that I'd know..

OK....lotsa good ideas. I like the Gun Exchange place, and will see if Reed's fits in. Anybody want to to link up along the way? I'd like to meet some of you guys. Looks like Saturday afternoon for me, 1200-1700 or so. Have to do a biz dinner w/wife that evening.
