    A few questions?

    Hey guys,

I just moved to central Cal about two months ago for NC. So far not good the first month I moved here I had my rifle stolen from my house. It was a LWRC MRE in color and 6.8 in caliber with a lot of extras . I had a lot of time & money invested in it. Anyways Im starting to look for replacement. The question I have are can I have a SBR (Short Barrel Rifle) in this State? I been looking at a lot of forums and some say its ok to have and some say its not legal to own one. If I can have one does anyone know the chief of police in stockton so i can get the tax paper work signed? I know Iam rambling but the more i think about it. It me off. Thanks for anybodys help with this.

I believe that even if you get federal approval for an SBR there are CA restrictions. There are exempt categories but most of us don't fall into one. Pretty commonly asked question:

No, you cannot have a short barreled rifle in CA. See here:

ETA: I defer to the post that Brendan linked to. There may be odd situations where it is legal.

You can have SBRs in CA IF they are C&Rs, over 50 years old and you can either get CLEO sign off (not going to happen) or, you start an NFA trust.
