    3 Strikes

    Strike one: Drinking before noon.
Strike two: Arguing with wife on Valentine's Day.
Strike three: Raising handgun in direction of officers.

Fremont Police Shoot and Kill Man

FREMONT, Calif. (KCBS) -- Fremont police officers shot and killed a 52-year-old man in front of his home today after he allegedly pointed a handgun in the direction of the officers, a police detective said.
The officers responded to a report of a family disturbance in the 3500 block of Norfolk Road at about 11:40 a.m. when they learned a man at the home had been drinking and was armed with a handgun, Fremont police detective Bill Veteran said.

After arriving at the home several officers contacted the man in front of the garage while other officers evacuated the man's wife and 10-year-old daughter through the back of the home, Veteran said.

The officers briefly negotiated with the man before be "raised the handgun in the direction of the officers," according to Veteran.

Four officers then discharged their weapons, killing the man, Veteran said.

No one else was injured in the incident.

All four officers involved in the shooting have been placed on routine paid administrative leave, Veteran said.

The Alameda County District Attorney's Office will investigate the shooting along with the Police Department.

    Happy Valentines Day!
Actually I only started collecting Milsurps 3 years ago. I think I might own about 24...They're cheaper than guns that will most likely never get the opportunity to kill somebody...

I belong to the group that uses firearms, and knows which bathroom to use.

Tis better to have Trolled & lost, Than to never have Trolled, at all.

Yea, or shot the gun out of his hand or something
Lord, make my hand fast and accurate.
Let my aim be true and my hand faster
than those who would seek to destroy me.
Grant me victory over my foes and those who wish to do harm to me and mine.
Let not my last thought be 'If I only had my gun."
And Lord, if today is truly the day you call me home, let me die in an empty pile of brass.

"Less lethal" ammunition like rubber batons and beanbags are generally used for threats lesser than potentially loaded handguns. You do not want to be the officer armed with rubber bullets when some guy is firing live rounds at you. In contrast to all the recent drama we had about certain unnamed policemen talking about shooting armed civilians, it looks like these guys were in the right and the deceased individual made the wrong decision.

Though drinking before noon is hella not a strike.

Wow, that's a lot of bad choices.

Arguing with your wife on Valentine's Day is just ****ing retarded.

Though Brendan is right, drinking before noon is never a crime. Especially on a Sunday. lol

LEO's shoot to stop you, which unfortunately means kill you, most of the time. They can't afford to tenderfoot around and hope you comply after you realise you've been shot. They do not know when the individual they are facing is on drugs or surging with adrenaline or mentally disturbed. Thigh shots have a good chance of hitting a major blood vessel and dropping a suspect quickly while still being able to save his or her life, but it's a small area and not as quick a stop as a torso shot. Add in that even a trained LEO is not going to be a cool cucumber when he's got his weapon drawn and is yelling at you, meaning there's a chance he won't hit where he wants to, and center-of-mass shots look like the safest bet.
