    sick of rip-off stores

so many rip off artists around here. Gun stores with high flyer prices trying to catch a sucker,... sucks double when i fall for something and buy on impulse and find it way way cheaper elsewhere... =( due diligence i guess.

One bad one was that i always wanted an naa mini .22- had to drive out of my local area to get one, and the best price they would do was 219- ok, did it. Waiting my 10 days and now i see a turners add, for the same gun, reguar price 189, on special for 169. Dang nabit, $50 diff, like 30% too.

Turners often has great prices, too bad that so many competing dealers in the southland have gone out of business. I just hope the good sale prices continue when changes take effect from the sale of Turners.

The NAA .22 was the first handgun I ever bought, $105 at turners in the '80s, let us know how you like it.

Due diligence is right. Excuse my crankiness, but I'm a little tired of folks complaining about "rip-offs" because an honest businessman has charged them more than another honest businessman would have and they went for it because they didn't bother to comparison shop.

A rip-off is a dishonest or unethical act. It's thievery or fraud. When the item and the price are shown and you agree to the item for the price and you complete the transaction with no surprises, knowing all the conditions beforehand and you get what you've paid for, then you haven't been ripped off. It's that simple.

You've even stated that the flyer prices were high; the store was broadcasting its high prices in advance. That's practically the opposite of a rip-off.

If you find later that you could have gotten the same item for less - maybe a lot less - if you had been a little more diligent in your shopping, then that's entirely on you. The same thing has happened to me. I've chaulked it up to experience. Calling it a rip-off, though, puts the responsibility on the merchant instead of where it properly belongs - on you.

You may be sick of "rip-off" stores. I'm sick of whiners who can't own up to their own laziness.

Like I said, excuse my crankiness.

I agree 100%. This is just buyers remorse. This is not a scam or ripoff or whatever else. No crime or fraud has been committed.

Look you got a pistol you wanted for a price you could afford. Suck it up and enjoy your new gun.

While I don't mean to defend the poster specifically, our society is such that some folks go out and splurge on things they realy can't afford. Just because he bought it, it doesn't mean he can afford it! Max'ed out credit cards, car debt, mortgages, small loans, etc! Just my comment..

Stores put stuff on sale so you will come in and buy other stuff also.

Other stores have everyday decent prices. Nothing wrong with a business making a profit.

if i was bitchen and moaning i would have posted the r/o stores name,.. i did not. I know that due diligence would have helped me... kinda the point of the post as well.

When i said high flyer price, there was not a handout flier, its an expression. I also know that the high price was set and assured to be a good price by the owner (taking the word from the salesmans mouth, funny huh). I rarely buy without serious price shopping, and got burned the one time i did not. its a small ammout of money (% of diff. is very significant though). But its not the money, its the deal...

The part that rubs me is that honest values and handshakes are no longer the premise, and folks like this give rise to the ebay's and wallmarts of the world,... I shop the small shops where a handshake and word usually counts. I want them to succed and am willing to pay a bit more, but WOW- thats a diff. I will talk to them upon pickup to see if their willing to toss in some ammo for ex.. i wont demand as its on me, but i will ask, and if not, i will leave with a smile, thank them, and never take my business back to them.

Next time, if it isnt on special at turners,.. i will call Ade's guns on tustin for what i want, he is a good guy and worth the long drive for me.

This thread makes me want to price check myself... I was shooting at target masters last night and didn't compare a single price.

Ironbalsxx go on and vent. If I told a customer my price was good and he ended up finding it at a much lower price (that a real new gun price) I would apoligise for my mistake and sweeten the deal. I like my customers and I like that they come back. I try to keep it that way. Every now and then stuff goes wrong.. whats important is how it gets resolved.
