    Oaktree gunclub

Is Oaktree gunclub friendly to OLL? Will they throw me out if I brink an OLL AK with out a pistol grip? Or my Price50 AR?
I have never shot there , if they see a new face with OLL will they get pissed?

    .....
I called and it looks like they do - but they do not have a real rifle range- only 30 yards.

Yes they are into full AR's and OLL's. They like AR's so much the CHP qualifies there along with the DOJ, DDA, and some other groups with a bunch of initials.

They are a supporter of the CA 3 Gun Series as well as the Winter Classic 3 gun match.

They try to keep 223 in stock but it's hit or miss, it's very hard getting 223 or 308 now unless you want wolf and last I looked there were a few cases.

They carry Winchester Ranger 223 55 grain soft point I think. Along with Ranger Lo Recoil Slugs, and pistol ammo.

They have a bunch of poppers and a Texas Star for shotgun or pistol along with barricades and a mover. Working from a holster is ok too.

The bay used for this is closed to the general public but to become member of the non general public you'll have to call Tim Kelly and see what the rules are. They don't want a bunch of goobers shooting up the Baricades and shooting in an unsafe manner. Yeah Yeah I know it's not you but if nobody knows you then be prepared for a Q and A session or a run through the IDPA qualifier.

      Good luck
I move slow but I make up for it by shooting poorly.

When I hit the lotto I'm only shooting factory.

I wasn't too impressed with that place. I went into the "Pro shop" they have and the guy behind the county didn't seem like he knew what he was doing.

I asked him how much the lake city 5.56 was and it took him about a minute to mumble that he doesn't know...then he started telling me that he doesn't even know if it's thiers cause they usually don't have it in stock. Yeah dude...it says Oak Tree Gun Club on the shipping label and it's sitting with the rest of your ammo in the middle of the floor.

Why don't you make a list of questions and then give them a call....

I'm sure they can answer your questions...

Did you deal with the rather large fellow in the Pro Shop behind the trap range? I was there in December with a buddy of mine who lives in Saugus. We went there to shoot skeet, and wound up shooting with one of our Olympic medalists, Kim Rhode, and her dad, both of whom were really nice and fun to shoot with. That was my first, and so far only, visit there, and I got the impression that it's mainly a trap and skeet and sporting clays kind of place. Yeah, they've got the pistol range on the other side, and it was quite busy, but the emphasis at Oak Tree clearly seems to be on shotgunning. And yeah, the heavy set guy in the Pro Shop on the trap and skeet side is a bit of a tool. I'm sure there's a story there, but I don't know what it is. I wanted to buy a hat, and my buddy was buying a new shooting vest, and this guy wasn't interested in making such a paltry sale. If we'd been looking at a $3K shotgun, I think we'd have gotten snappier service.

I will say this - when we were in that Pro Shop there was a Browning .30 cal machine gun sitting in an open gun case on the counter that someone had been firing earlier, while we were out on the skeet course. That was kind of a surprise to see that sitting there. We'd both heard several long bursts of automatic weapons fire coming from over in the pistol range area while we were on the skeet course, and boy did we each do a double take when we heard it! When we saw that, we knew it was what we'd heard, but we were surprised they had facilities for firing one. Anyone know what that's about? Do they have some kind of special setup for folks who have federal machine gun licenses or permits or whatever it is you get when you have a (legal) full auto weapon?

It was a tall, heavyset older white guy....in the pro shop next to the handgun range portion.
