JUPITER — An elderly man shot himself in the leg with a gun Monday afternoon in the parking lot of a Jupiter gun store, police said.

The unidentified man had gone into the store, Chuck's Guns and Ammo at 126 Center St. in Jupiter, looking for batteries for the laser sight on a small handgun, said Colleen Sunser, the store's co-owner.

He returned to his car. Inside the vehicle, the man injured himself when he accidentally fired the gun, Jupiter police Sgt. Scott Pascarella said. He did not release the man's identity but said he was about 80.

The accident happened shortly after 2 p.m., he said. The man was taken to St. Mary's Medical Center in West Palm Beach, where he was reported in stable condition Monday evening.

In Florida, you can probably carry a loaded gun in a vehicle. They are a "free" state.

But obviously, he didn't keep the booger hook off the bang stick...

or keep the gun pointed in a safe direction...

or know his target & beyond...
Actually I only started collecting Milsurps 3 years ago. I think I might own about 24...They're cheaper than guns that will most likely never get the opportunity to kill somebody...

I belong to the group that uses firearms, and knows which bathroom to use.

Tis better to have Trolled & lost, Than to never have Trolled, at all.

LOL. Between the "booger hook" and the Saturn comment, I had me a good laugh, thanks!

He went to a gun store for batteries?

I wonder what the mark up was for those.

OK, let me get this straight. He was in Jupiter, driving a Saturn, looking for a new energy souce for his laser? Is that right? I wonder if he also owns a 12g Space Gun?

Why? I don't think WalMart has a "no-gun" policy. This happened in Fl were, I'm sure that many people carry inside WalMarts in Fl.
