    2nd gun location and type

I am moving from my 1 story house to a 2 story house and would like to add a second gun for home defense. I currently have a bed side quick access safe with a G17. I am thinking I need a down stairs gun for possible home invasion defense. I was considering a 12ga stored in a closet very near the place I watch tv. My biggest concern would be bad guy finding my 12ga while I am sleeping and having to face bad guy with my 9mm. Opinions on another good option. Oh ps I have small children.

Whether you choose an SG or a handgun for your downstairs gun, it needs to be secured.
Locking cabinet or rack of some sort. Either can be bolted to a wall inside of your closet.
    Good luck.

small sentry 5gun safe in a downstairs closet gets my vote... if funds dont permit, a gun locker will suffice.

Granted I don't have kids so what I do now is a little different at home.

If I did have kids at home I would put a small hand gun safe in the closet near the tv. Put the shotgun in a safe or lockable gun storage - safe is preferred. Move the pistol to the bedroom at night.

What about a pocket pistol, in your pocket?
