I just recently got a pair of prescription glasses for an astigmatism. I have yet to go shooting since getting them. How do you shooters with glasses do it? Do you just wear safety glasses over your prescribed glasses?

yes, although i don't use "shooting" glasses, i use impact rated safety glasses that you can get at hardware stores since they usually make them bigger so i can fit over my glasses.Originally posted by leelawBecause -ohmigosh- they can add their opinions, too?Originally posted by SoCalSig1911Preppers canceled my order this afternoon because I called them a disgrace... you can have safety glasses made to z87.1 high impact safety standards at any optical place. oakley always advertises there lenses as being something special but thats all they are. Its no extra cost just a little thicker.
I just had some custom prescription glasses made to my specs. its nice being the boss.
I had a sunglasses frame (cause I wanted a wrapped frame) then had my prescription done in transition lenses and then had my lab guys tint them yellow. Now I have indoor and outdoor range glasses! Retail would have cost about $500 but I work for a company that gives you a free pair once a year. I wasnt sure if it would work since you really cant tint polycarbonate. But they came our beautifully. Not sure how often you hit the range but Im out about once or twice a week and didnt want to fumble with 2 different pairs.Comment

I have polycarbonate lenses on my regular glasses and usually wear safety glasses over it to prevent hot brass from getting stuck between the lens and my eyelids... It not fun when that happens."Can our form of government, our system of justice, survive if one can be denied a freedom because he might abuse it?" --Harlon Carter

I just wear my glasses as normal. Haven't had a problem with them yet. If I'm feeling really tacticool I'd don my ESS Turbofans with Rx inserts.Comment

I had to pay almost $350 for my glasses, just a little concerned about them getting scratched by brass.Feedback Score:

I gathered some info on this older thread.
I now use prescription polycarbonate lenses with full wrap around sunglasses frames. It is much better than using stacked glasses. Contact lenses have always been a pain for me, so that was never an option.Comment

I wear glasses as well and like others, just wear them as-is when going to the range. I think your frame might be too long in the arms for your head. I'd suggest going to wherever you got your glasses and see if they can shorten/adjust them. They should never stick out more than a little bit unless they're riding really low on your nose."Ok, sign language 101. This means stay low, this means stack up, and this means I'm gonna punch your lights out if you don't shut up!"Comment

I have prescription safety glasses/w side shields from work. I use only glass lenses so I wont use my street glasses for shooting. Out of thousands of rounds and 40 different guns, I have never been hit in the glasses. But all it takes is one time.I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.Comment

I have contacts that work for astigmatisim. You can try those and whatever glasses you want. I've found that I can't wear the contacts but thats because my without the astigmatisim can't wear them.I move slow but I make up for it by shooting poorly.
When I hit the lotto I'm only shooting factory.Comment
