I really wanted to get a top end Browning or Ft. Knox but I have an opportunity to get a Sentry. Not my first choice but I can get their "top of the line" GS3659C for half price, which is substantially less than the other brands I mentioned. My problem is that I can't find any reviews (yes I Googled) -- does anyone here have any direct experience with this particular model? I just need to know if it is total junk or if it will be a good value safe for the price (< $1000). Thx!

I don't know about that particular model, but Sentry is a well known brand, with a good product. Have you read through some of the posts about safes in the "...safes..." section of this forum?

These are not necessarily apples to apples comparisons."Just leave me alone, I know what to do." - Kimi Raikkonen
The moment the idea is admitted into society, that property is not as sacred as the laws of God, and that there is not a force of law and public justice to protect it, anarchy and tyranny commence.' and that `Property is surely a right of mankind as real as liberty.'

I had a Sentry safe. it was a 14 gun safe. Realistically I could throw abotu 8 guns there comfortably. Decent safe for the price. nothing crazy. its ok for a basic security sort of safe. I dont know how well it woudl stand a sustained attack. I have mine mounted and bolted in a way that it makes it a PITA to try and pry open if you could actually get a pry bar in there.Comment

I bought "The COLLECTOR."
I love it! Very well built, and they financed it 100%. i will have it paid off in a couple of months.
I liked the locking mechanism which requireS both a key AND a combination (up to 10 digits?), or two separate keys to open it.
I'm a former certified welder. I know how safes are constructed. I checked several brands and settled on this one. When it is paid off, I'll probably buy a second one, and bolt them back-to-back. Try moving THAT you thieves! LOL!.
The ONLY reason I didn't buy "The ARMORY" model is because it wouldn't fit through the door of my bedroom.
The closet is in the way, so it wouldn't make the turn.
Note: I made a cardboard template of the footprint dimensions of each safe I considered buying (including the extended hinges and locking mechanism), and dragged the cardboard with a string along the floor from the driveway to it's final resting spot so that I could determine whether the SAFE would also be able to make the turns and fit through the doorways. That is how I determined that if I had purchased the Armory model, I'd have to remove my bedroom door's frame and 14" of the wall, or destroy the built in closet to get it into the bedroom. Now that I am considering moving, I am glad I didn't do that, or I'd have to go through the whole reconstruction project again! The COLLECTOR just barely made the turn, and I still had to take the door off of its hinges.Comment
