    Electronic ear plugs

There's quite a range of electronic hearing protection, from $40 to $1800. Anyone use one of the less expensive sets and are happy with them? Any other recommendations?

Problem is muffs interfere with my position on the AR's. Was looking for earplugs. Thanks for the recommendation though.

If I remember correctly, Surefire has some inexpensive, in the ear, ear protection. I talked with a lot of people that liked them. I didn't care for the way they fit my ears.

I use regular ears plug when using my Bushmaster, because as you said the muffs interfere with my head position on the stock. Their the soft ones with attach string. Works as well as the muffs in this case, I prefer the muff but when you can't the plugs work fine.

I think OP is asking about in-ear ones almost like hearing aid, not ear muffs.
'Cuz big holes are easier to see.

I looked into these types in the past. The woman I talked to did them at gun shows. She also did custum ear plugs at the shows. They ran $600 to $900.

i personally have never used them since my electronic muffs work just fine, but i've read a lot of good reviews for these.

I use the Surfire ear plugs.. I love the way they fit and stay put... I actually use the EP4 version, one more rib on the actual part that is in your ear... You can plug them with the little insert for louder guns or leave the insert out and still hear a little of the conversation around you... I have go to these because I hate the clunky ear muff type protection...

By the way the Surefire plugs can be had for a lot less than listed on the Surefire web site. I got a couple pairs from midway a year or so ago for $5.99 a pair and free shipping... To the OP I don't know where you are located but if you are in the area of Fowlers Gun Room, I know that they have them, EP3's for I think $9.99, Don't quote me on that but I do know you can find them for a reasonable price and, If kept clean will last a long time.

I use electronic ears that are sloped near the bottom so as not to interfere with my AR shooting..they work great $35...cant remember the brand, but just make sure they are flat and tapered near the bottom to accomodate a rifle..

I'm trying to understand, why do people go with muffs or other plugs (like the Surefires) when foam earplugs have a higher NRR? Even the electronic muffs only have NRR numbers in the 20s. The foam plugs I use are rated at 33. I can still hear normal conversation with them in. Please...what am I missing here?

I use them both, foam plugs under regular muffs. If one is good, two have to be better.

Maybe you have bionic ears or im getting old, but I cant hear S*** with foam plugs and i can hear a knat fart with electronic ones...well, except really loud noises are blocked out as intended... once i started using them, i cant go back.
