I know that crap happy place, it's Camp Roberts. If you look just above the HUMMER on the right end of the line, you will see a white-ish thing. that is where I work...East Garrison.

You almost can't see the target at that range if you're doing it right, and sure enough it hits.
Yeah, you can't read the target numbers, fortunately they're grouped in fives so you can count over from the gap.

Haha, Camp Roberts. Man, my unit goes there 80% of the time we go out to the field. I spent two weeks there in the summer of '05. I love the drive up to range 14 and the all purpose range. Being Motor T, there is nothing more fun than driving a 7-ton up and down rough terrain. 2 years ago, I was driving my 7-ton through that narrow dirt path with the low hanging trees near range 5, the damn trees scared the crap out of my infantry passengers and bent my smoke stack! Haha, my 7-ton's bent smoke stack makes it more aerodynamic, thats my excuse and i'm sticking to it. One day, I saw a herd of elk running by the mortar range, beautiful sight.

Camp Roberts? Is this part of Hunter Liggett?
I went to Hunter Liggett during my reserve days once for an all night land nav exercise. Couldn't remember much about it because we did everything at night.
As for qualification, we qualified at 200 yd, 300 yd, and 500 yd, and the target was slightly smaller than the front sight tip at 500 yds.
Our unit had 5-tons to haul around missiles and missile equipment, and those were hardly agile in the dirt. I can't imagine what a 7-ton truck is like.

Yes it is, Camp Roberts is about 40 miles away from Fort Hunter Liggett. FHL is a nice place, although it gets extremely cold there at night. We got snowed on last year in the middle of the night, and woke up in a puddle of slush.

Yes, but FHL is where I learned there is more wine out there than MD20/20!

Let's not start crapping all over the young LCpl's thread with snarky comments about his sig line.

                  Thanks.

PM sent so I don't clutter up the thread.

I'm a big fan of irons, and if you want to see something really cool, check this out. It is a discussion on custom reticles for the 458 SOCOM, but about 1/2 way down is a custom ladder sight for the SOCOM to shoot out at long range with IS.

BTW, I didn't say that, but I understand the sentiment:

Recently installed some open sights on my R1. Look forward to learning how to use 'em right!
