    Misdemeanor problem... help!

About 4 years ago, I was involved in a minor assault and battery, which the judge deemed me guilty . I completed the assigned community service time back then and heard that I could expunge it from my record after 3 years, which I have yet to do.

Not realizing this was an issue with gun ownership, I went to buy a hunting shotgun recently and was denied by the DOJ. I understand now that there is a 10 year non-gun ownership limitation which comes with the misdemeanor by state law. I have no other such violations on my record, nor have I ever had any.

If I complete the expungement from my record, would this allow me then to buy and own a hunting shotgun, or is there any other recourse which would allow me to own and use a gun? I'd really like to join my friends and go bird hunting in the near future... your constructive advice would be greatly appreciated.

Duplicate post which is against the rules. Stick to one forum and wait for an answer.

WOW- this sounds like a big problem. I would talk to a few lawyers and not seek advice from people you do not know on the internet.
Why make matters worse from bad advice.

        You need a lawyer bud.
