Soo... What would it take for YOU to host a group buy?

What motivates you to jump in and want to do a goup buy ie: Host one, head it up?? Is it power? adrenalin? I certainly had those emotions going through me then. I did not start the thread. but I got involved and pumped up about it. I wanted to do good by the community, which the mfgers laughed at. http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...d.php?t=178247

Not pertaining to that thread, but what would entice you to get involved in heading a group buy for receivers, or ammo, or uppers? Would $40 per order make you do it? maybe if there were 50 orders? i mean really how much time does it take per internet posting or could it be more than 45 min total per buyer= 40 hours?

can I buy your morals and ethic regardless of what I want you to push (if I told you what a great product it was) for $2k?

Thats my comment about the whole thing.

Well man, you may notice that a lot of CG's group buys turn to shat.
It's not always due to scams or laggy hosts. You have several people who want something. Some want to change their mind, back out, lag on payment, so on. You have guys who are far too impatient, snot nose little crappers too...the ones that think it all revolves around them. (no one specific, we have all seen it at one time or another.)

Then, you do have bad, shady, crappy hosts also.

It would take A LOT for me to host one. I would never want that, I wouldn't wish that on anyone.

I personally would max it out at 2 people. Land buys are probably the worst, especially when you get those supreme optimists that are like "With only 100 of us, each person only has to pay $100 a month! Yay yippy, I'm a genius". Yea...good luck with that. It was especially funny when one guy commented on how his group land buy failed and he just bought it all himself, said one guy PM'd asking "If I stop paying half way, am I still entitled to use the land for the rest of the year?"

The use of a free escrow service to hold all the group buy funds so that in the event the group buy falls through, refunds of everyone's cash is quick and easy. It also removes the "did xyz just run off with the money and not put the order through?" question.

What would it take for me to host a group buy? Maybe a lobotomy. Or a sharp blow to the head, causing permanent brain damage. Or the ingestion/injection/inhalation of any combination of drugs that would render rational thought processes impossible.

Many group buys go well, but so many also go to hell in a handbasket. You need to know what you're doing to run one, and I know myself enough to say that I don't.

It'd take a lot less deadbeat buyers for me to consider doing one again.

For me it would be what ever the group buy was for I would need to get it for free or a very large reduction in price.

you need $, patients, and hopefully understanding people.

                        I ran one for lpks.

anvil arms said they had the LPKs but after waiting for a month and even charged my card after i collected everyones $ they couldnt produce the LPKs.
                        said they oversold.
So I got lucky and got help from a ebr store.
he got me the lpks for the same price and everyone got their lpks.

it was for about 40 lpks to about 18 or so people too.
if I was to ever run one again, id make sure the shop has the item and people understanding how it is to be the middle man. I took my time to buy packaging materials, collect everyones $, pack them up, mail them out etc. its a hassle to have to cash checks too.
I made about 100$ or so for the headache.
