I believe you need a copy of the death certificate. Take it and your firearms to an FFL to have them registered in your name. -

Do NOT take the guns to an FFL unless you intend to sell them.
1) There is no requirement in law that guns be registered to you. There are sometimes a few benefits, but it is not required.
2) The only benefit accrues to handgun registration; there are some circumstances - e.g. concealed carry without a license - where having the gun registered to you changes a felony to a misdemeanor.
3) Long guns are not registered anyway.
4) Family transfer at worst would require filing a form with $19 for all the handguns you care to register.
