    Kel-Tec .223

Is anyone familiar wit the Kel-Tec SU-16?

I was thinking of getting a .223 and this foldable model seems like it would be good for keeping in the trunk.

    All the SU-16 models fold.

There are many SU-16 owners on this board. Run a search and you will find many many threads about them.

The stocks fold on all the SU-16's and are legal in the PRK. The only one that we can't have is the 49-state 'C' model that allows you to fire with the stock folded. We have the 'CA' version of the C model instead.

I found that mine fits better under the rear seats of my Pathfinder when it's not folded, strangely enough.

I have a B model, and it shoots OK. Very few malfunctions, and it's fairly accurate. I've never really accuracy tested it, but for a plinker it does well. Best of all, it is legal, and uses my pre-ban mags.

I got a CA model a few months ago, so far I really like it.

Ditched the stock bipod in favor of the compact forend and replaced the factory plastic mags with Bushmaster 10-20s (and my prebans).

Other then a stovepipe on the first round I ever fired out of it, no problems.

It's not an AR, but it is a pretty good gun in it's own right.

I got an 'a' model before the OLL thing happened and managed to put a couple thousand rounds through through it before it blew up. Keltec repaired it but I must admit I don't take it out much anymore, it's a good rifle but it's no AR15.

i have a "B" model and its still going strong. i have about 5k rounds thru it. i've been very surprised. it will jam if you use wolf ammo. it will jam if you dont clean it. i have noticed that you have to clean it after couple hundred rounds or so. besides that, it has been a good rifle.

i ended up buying another "B" model from a friend who had about 600 rounds thru it. I'm hoping that it will be just as good as my first one.

i will say though, i prefer the OLL way more than the kel-tec. i might sell the second "B" model. not sure yet. i want to keep my first one to see how many round it will fire before it goes dead.
