Help me avoid depression, May be moving back to CA (Update in OP)

Back story: Moved to WA from Merced in 2006. The current economy is killing me financially. I still have family in Merced and it may come down to my family and I having to move back to Merced if business doesn't pick up soon I currently own a Sun Devil with all the evil features. The lower was purchased in CA from David at Composite Rifle Tech. I saw the flow chart and it looks like so long as I put a bullet button on it and slap a ten round mag in it I should be ok in CA correct?

    UPDATE:
Well, things are sucking mightily here and it's almost certain I'll be back in CA soon. The good news is that it's to go back to school, regroup, and of course fish and hunt with my dad.

Now for a couple of other questions. If I take the upper off the lower, can I bring it into CA and then worry about the BB? Also, are +10 round .22 magazines kosher? I have a pile of 10/22 25rounders. Also, my IPSC open gun is going to be a problem as well. I have CA cool mags for it but it has a threaded barrel for the comp. If I have the comp pinned and welded, that would be CA ok right? I have ton of AR mags to disassemble.......

Welcome to the fight, consider joining the NRA and donating to the Calguns Foundation if you do not already. We ARE making headway.

You are correct, bullet button and OAL you are good to go.

Don't forget that legally you'll need to either disassemble all your high cap mags before bringing them into Cali, convert them to 10 round mags, or sell them/leave them in Washington. Sucks, but that's the law; no high cap mag importation allowed.

The economy sucks big time in CA. as well. Try to stick it out longer and maybe find a second part time somewhere.

Wrong. You don't have to do anything to your standard capacity mags(10+ rnds) if you had them in CA before 2000. You can bring them back with you when you return and you don't need to prove when you bought them either. If someone wants to bust you, they can come up with the proof. You just can't use them on a rifle equiped with a mag lock.

To the OP, I can't imagine the feelings you must be experiencing at the thought of moving back to CA. I'm sorry for you brother. To help ease the pain a little, you can bring back just about any handgun(s) you want. No threaded barrels and such, but get whatever you can now while you're in WA. If you decide later on you don't like a particular handgun, you can always sell it after you get to CA. Someone will be Very happy to buy a handgun via PPT that is not on the roster.

Dont feel bad about moving back to Cali. California gun laws as they are are still better than hawaii or NJ or NY and a few other states. And we are making headway. I rejoined the NRA and looking to make a contribution to CGN. its about time I gave some financial backing. hell i gotta make donations at other foundations ( my tax guy told me this week I need to make more donations or have more taxes taken out of my check) so one of them might as well be Calguns.

Just keep looking for other work in a free state.

If you move back to CA, not only do you have to surrender what a true Black Rifle needs to be but you're entering a state that has the top unemployment rate compared where you're at now.

Sorry to hear about your situation, but you're making it worse when moving to a state much worse than you're at economically.

If you do move back to the PRK, we welcome your pro-2nd vote.

Times are tough now. Depending on your age, it won't be the last downturn you live through either. When you get as old as I, you learn to bear down through the tough times and enjoy the good times that much more when they return. Times will get better and so will your situation. There's no shame moving back home and regrouping. Most of us have done it.

                        Good luck.

yea look else where. dont go back to california. the unemployment rate is rediculous in california. my wife has a masters in education. every time she would apply for a job it was in a pool of 1000 other people. you know how hard it is to get a job when every time you look its against 1000 other people? were in oklahoma now and things are much better. my advice is do what ever is best for your family. but try to make things work where you are.

Bump for added woe in OP. Thanks for all the kind words and help. I'm actually looking forward to being back in CA soon and meeting as many other Calgunners as I can. I'll be living in Merced in case anyone is local.
