    CoD: MW 2

just got into it. i played the first 3 and loved it. the reason why i bought a garand. i missed out on the first CoD: MW though all my friends and family swore up and down that i'd love it since i was into firearms.

i played CoD: MW 2 when it first came out and laughed at my friends & family because these guys are shooting guns that i have shot in real life.

a family member got the game for me for christmas and i have been playing it ever since. i'm addicted.

anyway, people say that this is one of the most accurate displays of how these guns would work in real life. of course the more hi powered rifles have more recoil and shooting an AUG HBAR is pretty much impossible to fire in full auto in real life w/ the accuracy I get in the game.

for those of you who have played the game, what do you think of the realistic game play? how close to real life is it?

The M14 is a great example of how the guns are not all tuned correctly. None of the maps are that larges, so distances are relatively short. But with the M14 if you have poor shot placement it can take 2 or 3 rounds to drop someone. Hitting someone with a .308 that close would probably leave a devastating wound and take them out of the fight.

can't really comment cuz i don't have enough experience with real life firearms, but gotta agree...CODMW2 is addicting...more realistic than the 1st one?

Yup, I need another Xbox, because I can't get my 4 year old to share. He already wants to go on Range trips, but I think I'll wait till he's 6 with a .22.

There are games that are far more realistic. CoD series is as action packed as it gets.

Red Orchestra Ost (nothing is better than hitting that spec at 300 meters with your Mosin), Rainbow 6 Raven Shield, SWAT 4, ArmA 1/2 are some examples of more realistic or tactical games. None are on consoles though. Generally complex and realistic games do not come out on consoles.

As for CoD, I like the SP, but can't stand the MP. Very over rated and repetitive, IMO.

I STILL play Raven Shield every once in a while. Dated graphics, sure, but it's the most fun tactical shooter ever. I wish they'd just put out a modernized version of it, not all the dumbed-down versions since.

i never played CoD: MW, but from what i hear, it was much easier to control as the recoil was virtually nonexistant.

As for the other games, i will possibly check it out if i ever get the opportunity.

This game is 100% realistic! All the time I practice for my real life shooting by jumping from building holding one (or two) guns whilst jumping through the air.

Seriously though, there's lots in the game that isn't realistic. I believe a lot of this is to make the game balanced. It's not a simulation, but I still have tons of fun shooting real guns in a game with such great graphics.

you forgot about surviving a frag grenade, air strike, being shot, shooting your primary, then having to switch to you secondary, then getting back up to jump back into the fray.

i should have been more specific as i meant the way the guns were set-up. my Eotech won't hit the same area from 10 meters to 300 meters that's for sure, yet i get a headshot everytime.

also, if i saw a friend/team mate get blown to bits, i wouldn't switch from my M14 to my akimbo ranger shotguns in .5 seconds and shoot up the room to kill everyone. i'd probably be in shock and end up curling into a fetus position in a corner somewhere.

and many of these people that say this have never shot a real firearm in their life

Don't forget how realistic it is for someone rushing you to melee you despite you laying a burst of fire on them center mass.

Remember, you can run and hide in a corner for 10 seconds, and all your injuries will go away to.

The thing that bothered me most about the Modern Warfare was that it was nigh impossible to get a good, quick follow-up shot with the M14, but the G3 recoiled like a .22lr.

In World at War, the MP40 drove me nuts. Why does it have more knock down power than a Garand? I am a noob who must not know anything about guns.

Yeah. I like how the UMP has a higher damage rating than the Kriss SuperV, despite the fact that the Kriss fires the same caliber at a higher cyclic rate with lower recoil.
My friends and family disavow all knowledge of my existence, let alone my opinions.

One thing to keep in mind with the ratings is that there's a couple factors that go into it, so some aren't actually comparable. For instance, adding FMJ adds to your damage meter, but the only advantage is better penetration through walls.

You can see a list of damages compared to range and body parts here:
