I mean you always hear "you get what you pay" but at 400 they better be paying for ammo, hotel ect...maybe they are?
NRA policy is that instructors/counselors teaches the NRA course curriculum as it is published. As rkt88edmo said, individual delivery may vary however.

The NRA doesn't get involved in establishing the costs of any courses. That is left entirely up to the individual instructor/counselor. So you'll have to ask if the cost includes range fees, ammo, etc.
"Did I say "republic?" By God, yes, I said "republic!" Long live the glorious republic of the United States of America. Damn democracy. It is a fraudulent term used, often by ignorant persons but no less often by intellectual fakers, to describe an infamous mixture of socialism, miscegenation, graft, confiscation of property and denial of personal rights to individuals whose virtuous principles make them offensive." - Westbrook Pegler

Humm, I guess I have to ask them to see what they are offering. It's too bad I can't take them all in a year. I have the fund and time, just the order I have to take the classes are backwards from the prereq.

The BSA merit badges where developed with the NRA, they have a little different flow and not as structured lesson plans. BSA restricts the type of firearms young scouts can fire and even requires older scouts to take the NRA basic course before they can shoot handguns. Also requires leaders to be certified NRA instructors for the type of shooting they are doing (Rifle, Shotgun, Pistol or Black-powder). My church has adopted the BSA standards for youth activity's as well. Working outside of them will void the groups insurance.
