Rust on my shotgun

    Rust on my shotgun

    So i took down my shotgun today and to my surprise there is rust forming on the outside barrel and down the slide. It has never left the house. Any ideas on what i can do? I live on the coast so i know rust forms hast here, but i didnt think this fast!

    870 right? Wipe it down with oil.

      Mossberg 590. I wiped it down before i put it back in the closet. Would dura coating it help?

        Use some Kroil oil on it. Apply, leave to sit for a day or so and wipe clean. Should clean up pretty good unless it's pitted.

          No pitting, just very fine spots of rust.

            It will come off with Kroil oil then. Give it a try.

              Always wipe 'em down after handling. The oil from your hands will cause rust to any blued finish.
