$2,000 = Another rifle / gun or body armor and misc stuff??

Hey guys I’ve got a few rifles now (223, 12 gage, .50 beowulf, m1) and few pistols too but I don’t have an AK (really want one) and / but I don’t have any body armor either and I should (could use) some upgrades for my existing stuff too… What you do think?? I recently ran into some extra cash the wife doesn’t know about and I don’t know which one to go with..

The Armor will / may save my life (if I ever need it) I’m just a average guy, I have no need for it other than to use it when the SHTF, so do I go out buy some body armor and maybe tac vest and upgrade my scopes to something worthy, get more reloading supplies, etc

Or do I go out and get a cool AK and ammo?

Ooohhh the choices we must make.. Anyway I’m looking forward to hearing from you on this one as I cant decide at this point..

Thanks for your time and have a great weekend..

Spend half on ammo. Can't have enough of it!

    Other half on new toy.

Yeah. It's hard. It's really easy to spend 2k to buy a tricked out AR etc. For example, an ACOG is good hands will definitely conserve ammo when taking down zombies at 300 + meters.

Best bang for the buck is ammo IMHO, followed by conversion kits. For example if you had AR already, get a drop in .22 kit in case you needed something less powerful to hunt with.

Or buy an SKS + some spam can surplus ammo and bury in backyard for when you really need it!

Yeah I’ve got your typical AR..

I never have thought of a conservation kit thou.. Thanks for the idea... This way I could shot it indoors too.. Oohh I like that idea..

          Thanks..

          P.S.
Any recommendations on a vender or model that I should research?

For drop in kits. CMMG and Spikes make a good one. CMMG get edge since it's less finicky with ammo. My former Spike's drop in didn't like CCI Minimags, but that was about it. Pay around 170 - 200 for .22 drop in bolt and 1 magazine.

Dedicated .22 uppers are more accurate but cost more.

            Nice paint job! Self done?

forget the body armor and buy more ammo, definitely more practical and realistic

                  body armor...Naw...
rifle will go right through most and it's hot and heavy... wear it 8 hours or so a day...and at least with our dept. has a 5 year expiration date...buy a gun...

Yeah but how much ammo does one really need??.

If (I'm not saying that I do) but if I had over 3k for every gun I have now do I really need more??

Really?? I always thought / have read that chances of survival go up to like 80% if you have body armor on during a fight?? Hmmm I'll need to look into that one..

Thanks for the first hand update..

ak + 2,000 rds of ammo for it + 1,000 rounds of AR ammo if shtf and your walking around with body armor you will be ganged up on and killed for what you have, being discrete about it is going to be key.

This is / was my kinda initial thought.. spend $1200-1500 on a AK (hopefully that will get me a good one) then the rest on the $$ on reloading dies, brass bullets and etc for it.. But I’m liking the thought of a dedicated 22upper for my AR and maybe spend only $1000.00 on the AK and rest on ammo??

IDK.. for some reason body armor just sounds good, more a chance for survival.. But realistically I don’t think I’ll ever really need it.. On the other hand upgrading my scopes buying a cheeper AK $700 ish range would free up founds for things too..

Thanks for all of the remarks gentlemen..

Hey is there a gun show coming around anytime soon, in or near the OC area??

With 5 pennies to spare. That was easy.

1200-1500 should get you a nice AK!
