Cabelas ETA on backordered Ammo

I recently ordered ammo from them and it was back ordered. ETA says 0-1 weeks. Someone told me their ETAs are months out. Is this true and they will keep pushing the ETA further. Is this true? Should I cancel my order of 500 rds of American Eagle 9MM for about $125.00 shipped.

did they charge your CC? if not then it doesn't really matter.

just order your 9mm from elsewhere for the time being and be giddy like a schoolgirl when one day you get a shipment of ammo at your door.

Yes, they keep pushing the dates out. I've been waiting over 8 months for a bunch of ammo. I've seen dates come and go about every 2 or 3 weeks. But be aware, every once and awhile they'll send out a notice that looks like the typical extension, but buried deep in the message is a statement that you have to call them to keep them from cancelling your order. So read each email you get from them carefully or they'll try to cancel your order.

To give you an idea, I placed an order for Primers (Small and Large Pistol) in May 2009. I got the Small Pistol Primers in October and the Large Pistol Primers Yesterday (1/14/2010).

It's not always true that they keep pushing out the dates. Two days ago I received an e-mail that one of my orders was delayed due to being out of stock, and that it could be another 2-3 weeks before delivery. Just one day after receiving that e-mail (yesterday), I received confirmation from them that my order shipped.

Cabelas doesn't charge until they ship, so just let your order sit there until they ship it, and as stated before, actually read the e-mails they send you.

Yes I have had a few orders in since last Nov and they just adding a few weeks to the ETA date.

Sometimes they push the dates out. Sometimes they don't. I've had both happen.

Sometimes it's the other way around. Last time I put ammo on backorder form Cabela's I got an email a few hours later that said it was being shipped, when the backorder estimate was 2-4 weeks. Got it a few days later LOL.

the stocks probably come in so quick that the websites don't update in time.

My story is kinda stale but on Jan, 5th 2009 I ordered from Cabelas 200 rds of Cor-Bon 125 gr jhp for my Colt Python. The emails started about a week later, 5 of them in total. Each kept reiterating the same message; backordered. They finally showed about May 10th.
I recently read an article in Investors Business Daily where the CEO of an ammo manufacturer said the extreme shortage has eased and waiting times won't be as long, especially if your looking for something common like .45 ACP.
I can only imagine how many additional bullets have been sold since the current occupant of the White House was elected.

I was waiting for three months on some .45 ammo and they e-mailed asking if I would accept another/better brand at the same price.
I took it and got the shipment in about a week!
