As long as the vendor will ship the firearm into CA without any issues, you can order and pay for the item you wish to purchase from the out of state vendor and then have the vendor ship the firearm to a FFL dealer of your choosing in your area to complete the 4473 + DROS forms plus paying the fees for the DROS and transfer. The amount due the transfer FFL dealer is at least $25 (DROS fee) plus whatever the dealer wants to charge for their transfer services which usually is either $50 or $75.

A short but not all inclusive list of transfer dealers in CA can be found at: http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...42&postcount=1.

What he said. If you can find what you are looking for locally, it's always a better bet.

I've made 4 purchases online for firearms that I couldn't get, or would be a pain to find locally. 3 were Gunbroker purchases, one was Davidsons Gallery of Guns.

If making a Gunbroker purchase, I urge you to scrutinize the auction pertaining to shipping into our state...If you don't see anything that specifies, contact the seller first before bidding.

My purchase through Davidsons was seamless though...You also don't have to pay a PPT fee as it's basically purchasing something from the FFL's store.

The on-line company will need a copy of the FFL of the dealer you are shipping the gun to for DROS if it's not already on file.
