    Would this fall under the definition "able to accept a detachable magazine" even though the magazine is not stored in the firing position?
    Seems like a very gray area that I wouldn't want to be a test case for.

      You didn't ask me, but I'd say it's good to go! (albeit ugly as hell)
      I'm pretty sure this is the same as the "side saddle is legal" argument that has been a proven case.

          I agree about the appearance... and when out of state, that's a lot of weight out there with a loaded 30 rounder.
