Peltor 6s: Over The Head, or Behind the Head?

I decided I'm getting some Peltor Tactical 6s electronic earmuffs after Booshanky let me try his. I've always used regular earmuffs with the band that goes over the head, but was thinking of getting the behind the ears kind so I can wear a baseball hat. I'll be mostly shooting from the bench, sometimes taking a tactical class, maybe a 3-gun match here or there. Any recommendations on which way to go? Know of any discount codes out there right now?

        Sold!

I found a coupon for envirosafety for 10% off. Too bad they're in CA, so the 10% sales tax canceled out my coupon.

        Thanks for the input guys!

I too like over-the-head, usu wear over a cap.

I run the Peltor 7S set. May get a 6S pair for lower profile cheek-up.

And wouldn't mind modifying to mix in Bluetooth audio from phone/radio - one of these days...

I've had the same dilemma before myself. The one reason I didn't go with the behind the head configuration is because they look less rugged. I think they would break after a few IDPA matches.

Over the head. I've had personal experience with the behind the ears, and they are not as solid.

I have had the behind the head for a few years now. Never had a problem with normal range use. I like it better. Looks like I am the odd man out here.

Edit- Tactical class? Going to roll on the ground matrix style too?, then Just get you some good foamy type (Good ones). What shooter you ever see running #1 man with bulky muffs?

Over the top. I purchased a set of Peltor 6s about 5 years ago and went with the behind the head setup. I regret that purchase to this day. I called peltor many years ago to see if they would send me a over the top strap but they were going to charge me $25+ s/h. Hell, I only paid $45 bucks for them from Cheaper than dirt and didn't want toi pay another $25! Behind the head works but I inverted the strap so the part that normally would sit against your neck now rests behind the top of my head.

I'm with those who say get over the head. I've got both and the behind the head bands on the Peltor 6s work, but they tend to slip down your head and get out of position easily. Over the head is secure and doesn't move.
