    Shipping a Rifle Instate

    Hello,

I am in the process of finalizing a sale of a rifle (Savage .223) to another Calgunner who lives a little too far away for a convenient FTF sale. I was planning on shipping it to him. I realize that the shipment has to go to an FFL but I wasn't entirely sure about the rest of the process. Here is what I think I know but could be completely wrong:

1.) I have to find a local FFL to ship the rifle for me
2.) The FFL receiving the rifle has to be identified ahead of time
3.) I give the receiving FFL information to the shipping FFL
4.) The shipping FFL sends out the rifle
5.) Receving FFL gets rifle and buyer picks up rifle

    Have I missed anything?

You can call the FFL Receiving the Rifle and ask them if they accept Private Party Shipments. Or if they will accept a Rifle from you shipped UPS, if yes then you need to have them e-mail or fax you their FFL Paperwork so that UPS can have a copy of it. Print or have 2 copies, one for you and one for them. I overnighted a 1911 to a member and that is what I did.

Or you can go to your local FFL and see what they charge and use them to do the transfer. I would still call the FFL on the receiving end and get the FFL ID or whatever they call it and have it faxed or e-mailed to you. That way you take your rifle and a copy of your FFL to receive paper and send it out.

Call the FFL and ask if they accept from an individual, if they do, just ask for a copy of their FFL via fax/email(just for verification you can go to https://www.atfonline.gov/fflezcheck/), then pack it up and ship it USPS, easy and cheap. That is all there is to it.

If they don't accept from an individual call you local FFLs and ship via the one that does it for less.

I have shipped handguns via UP/FedEx and never once have I had to show them the receiving FFLs paperwork. They will ask if I am shipping to an FFL, but have never asked for proof.
I think it can be confirmed that an alien xenomorph is absolutely no match for good ole' Alabama black snake!

      and

If you're in a survival movie and the hot blond twists her ankle and can't walk, you damn well figure a way to carry her. If it's a dude, you shake his hand and say "best of luck".
