Ok, so this is a question I'm asking for curiosity, NOT because this is a gun I'm buying.
Here is the scenario-there is a LARGE man I know (he is 6'2" and weighs upwards of 350-375 pounds) who has NEVER shot a handgun. I think he has shot a shotgun once or twice, but so far as handguns go, he's a "virgin". Anyways, a friend of his has a intercontinental arms super dakota 44 mag that he inherited and since this guy I know (we'll call him Fred) is so big, the buddy at work said he'd sell "Fred" the 44, for $400. Obviously it's used and the friend from work doesn't know how many rounds have been put through the thing.
Ok, so here are my questions-
1. What are some brand new, comparable handguns, that are comparable in price that would be better options for "Fred"?
2. Doesn't $400 seem like a lot to ask for the gun?
3. Would you suggest someone who has never fired a 44 mag try one out to see if they even like the way it feels?
Any other input? Thanks!
Frankly, I'm asking because I know there have to be better, new options for "Fred" and I feel the friend is hosing him so far as the price goes.
