    Springfield XD-9 4" or S&W 9mm 4" ?

My S/O is looking into purchasing the S&W and I'm trying to
persuade him into the XD. What do you think is the better purchase?

    Thanks in advance!

        I'd go with XD9. I have one

After owning two XDs and fondling my buddie's M&P, I really liked how it felt in my hands. I dont think you can go wrong with either!

If in sw 9mm you mean the m&p then yes, but if you are reffering to the sigma then go with the xd.

                xd
my limited race gun is a 4" 40 cal bitone with a barsto 9mm barrel, trigger job, bomar FO sights, etc. It is awesome. The xd triggers are great.

I shot a glock with a worked over trigger and it didn't compare.

I think I held an s&w m and p with the interchangeable back straps and it didn't seem too bad, but I have never shot one.

For what it's worth, it seems like the chamber for the M&P is a tad smaller than that of the XD. I've had reloads that would not properly chamber in the M&P because it's too tight of a fit, but the same rounds slide in with no problems in the XD.

I do think that the M&P is more comfortable to shoot. People have criticized the XD for having a slimmer grip than you would find on must handguns, but that's nothing a Hogue slip-on can't fit.

both are excellent guns. it really comes down to which one is more comfortable in the hand. dont try to sway somebody to a certain pistol just cause you like it so much. the reason you like it might end up being the reason he hates it. he should go to the range and rent both guns to shoot first. then let him make the educated decision as to which one works best for him. but like i said both are great guns and will perform well.

                          XD9 FTW!
i am a huge fan of the XD9's and i own several. i have also owned a few glocks and like the XD's better. to be fair, i have never shot an M&P9, but i am so happy with my XD's that i do not even feel the need to check out the M&P.

Go rent or borrow an M&P - you won't be disappointed.
