There used to be a couple over by Traders in in Hayward but I am not sure they exist anymore.

I was in SF last week and saw one by 16th and Mission but I did not get a chance to see what they carried.

There's Big Ben's down here in SJ but I heard some things about their FFL license and the ATF. Don't know if they still sell guns but they used to. What about Irvington? It's not a pawn shop but I've seen SKS's in there before.
Lord, make my hand fast and accurate.
Let my aim be true and my hand faster
than those who would seek to destroy me.
Grant me victory over my foes and those who wish to do harm to me and mine.
Let not my last thought be 'If I only had my gun."
And Lord, if today is truly the day you call me home, let me die in an empty pile of brass.

The days of the $150 SKS is long gone. You can find them sometimes for $180 or so, but that's getting rare too.

You could try City Arms in Pacifica, but I bet they're not much cheaper. Sportsmen's in Campbell used to get decent ones for $180, but I haven't seen one there for a while.

The pawn shop across from Traders lost there FFL two years ago. We all know that Traders lost there FFL last year.

As far as I know, there are no local pawn shops selling firearms in the East Bay.

Is it legal to import them? They're on Gunbroker/AuctionArms constantly for around that price.

If it's not an "SKS with detachable magazine", you could order one outta state shipped to your FFL.

Also make sure that any fixed magazine attached does not hold more than 10rds (because that triggers an alternate generic AW definition under 12276.1PC).

Ensure that if it's a Yugo M59/66 (notice I didn't call it an SKS!!) that the attached grenade launcher has been removed or has been welded-over with a pipe so that you are not illegally importing an illegal device. (Regardless of rifle status, a G/L is a no-no.)

I will also note that Yugo Simonov rifles (M59 and M59/66) are *not* "SKS" rifles and can in fact legally have detachable magazines. Albanian Simonov-pattern rifles are also similar in their not being an "SKS". Russian and Chinese Simonov rifles are SKS models and should not have detachable magazines.
