any ideas on which stock is best for an AR in 7.62x39

Currently i have a SOCOM M4 stock ( the long version ) attached to my rifle ive been told that this stock is not designed for the 7.62x39 caliber AR and my experince has led me to this conclusion, its no fun having the extension slam forward on recoil as it cannot hold itself in place from the shock, last week i had my head slam forward and my right eye ( my good eye ) meet the CQ/T scope, nearlly had a black eye from that.

So what is a really good option for this caliber.

Maybe try a fixed stock A2 type or an ACE. Curious what brand your current stock is.

I'm not quite sure what is happening - you say that you have a fixed stock, but it is "collapsing" while you shoot, so your face hits the sight? I would say ANY stock except the one you own should be just fine. Magpul, VLTOR, LMT, Stagg, hell even CAA - none of those will "collapse" just because you're shooting 7.62x39... but I think I might have missed something in the OP, so please feel free to explain further...

We've sold thousands of telescoping AR stocks for 12 gauge shotguns. If it will work with a shotgun, it will certainly work with 7.62x39.

Here are some pics of the lock/buffer part, ( sorry about the camera work ) this is the old one which i replaced. The new one after only a 150 rounds is starting to wear the same way, but has not yet reached the level pictured.

This is an ACE LTD M4 Socom stock, they replaced the lock piece for free.

I also have a smaller but newer version of this stock (pictured in the diagram) that instead of the barrel design pictured hear it has a block design lock, im betting they re-designed this stock because of this problem or wear.

Ill contact them tomorrow and see what else they can do.

Apparently there website states there stocks can handle the 7.62x39 caliber rifle, but perhaps they mean the new design.

The lock fails after a few rounds of firing the rifle, and sometimes it will hold for a full ten round mag, but thats rare.

This barrel lock design seats inside one of the 4 bevells pictured in the diagram once it starts to wear just a little it slams forward over the bevells when firing, though i cannot simulate this by pressing my body down on the rifle, so the recoil is considerable.

I prefer to not use the smaller stock on a 7.62 caliber AR i like a bit of length from my shoulder when firing.

If ACE dont come up with a better solution then ill check out some brands you guys suggested.

Wow - that is some piss-poor design! I don't understand why they wouldn't have more of a physical, locking mechanism - it looks like it is more or less a tension setting... My advise is to sell it and get a CTR!...or like I said previously ANY other stock in existence... basically, shooting 7.62x39 should never be a problem on an AR stock...

There is still hope, i called ACE LTD today they told me to send it to them and they will probably exchange it for the 2nd genneration which is the longer version of the small stock in the diagram, that has the block shape lock and no bevells. Or maybe the 3rd genneration which will be out next month, so ill hold off for now looking at different brands.
