Real Gunsmiths are getting hard to find now a days.
Does anyone know of a local (Northern California/Bay Area/Central Valley) Gunsmith who is capable of setting back a barrel (cut an additional 1 or two threads) and ream out the chamber to set up head space on a rifle?
The issue here is a 1901 Winchester Mod 1894 rifle in 25-35. The rifle shoots great for its age but has a bad chamber (divots/scratches) and bad headspace. Any of you Winchester guys know the 25-35 barrels don't grow on trees. So to keep the rifle as a shooter and maintain a degree of originality I would like to have the work performed.
So who do I call? Thanks!
