    Edit... SKS identification question.

I have a few guns in my possession, one brought into the state and a couple more obtained as a resident.

    First... What is "dros'd"

    is registration required for say...

a winchester pump shotgun, stock, and aquired when I was 13... (25yrs ago)
an old single shot shotgun, C & R I believe, brought in a few years ago... gift from parent.
an old .22 revolver, C & R also, hand me down from great granny...

also, a stock SKS, which "may" have a removeable clip, is there a legit way to secure an SKS clip, and if not, how deep should I bury it in my back yard?
It was a gift from a father in law, could also register to wife... were still together... I'd like to shoot it but don't want to get screwed.

I know these are elementary questions, yet I'm still a little unclear, If I don't shoot any body, who cares if they're unregistered, and if I do... at least I'm alive... and can maybe explain...?

Excuse my ignorance, I know the judge won't.

DROS is Dealer's Record Of Sale. Dealers are required to fill out paperwork and send it to the state for every firearms purchase. (Usually done by computer these days.)

Handguns are effectively registered - DROS info includes make, model, caliber, serial #. Long guns don't require that detail.

Beginning in 1991, almost all gun transfers have to go through a CA FFL, who will do the DROS as they are required.

GUNS need not be registered. HANDGUNS TRANSFERRED THROUGH A CA FFL will be registered. You can own unregistered firearms as much as you like - there are probably millions of them in CA today.

Frozen in 2015, it is falling out of date and I can no longer edit the content. But much of it is still good!

??? so... the shotguns are a "non-issue" and I don't need to but "may" register the .22 revolver, so as to make it a misdemeaner if I were to " get busted with it concealed". It was "intra-familia" since it went from mother to son, father to daughter, them mother to son, being me. the recent two transactions being IN california.

      sure, I almost get it.

Which leaves the SKS, potentially "removable" clip question.

            Alright so in this thread...

            It states "SKS Sporter"... Illegal

My gun IS NOT marked "SKS"... but is SKS type by Norinco

So, I have now hijacked my own thread and this is maybe the wrong place to try to sort this, but I also read something about "22's" made by Norinco, I have that marking and nowhere do I see "SKS" even though it appears to be one...

I am now truly baffled... Help Please

Pictures would help in identifying your SKS type rifle.

the triangle 2 2 is just a proff mark. = chinese.

all semi autos came fixed mags...not detachables allowed here so yours is fixed.

( go to the doj's web site and read up on assaualt weapons).

if you need parts to fix the rifle go to the reno gun show and get spare parts.
all factory 10 rounder mags are fixed mags=good to go.

there are some books you can order via the web that gives all info about the sks.

just getting my books out of storage so can not find my books on the sks right now.

                .

If the mag completely comes out yes.

If the mag needs a tool to come out (ie hinged in the front) not illegal.
