Bud's Top 20 Selling Firearms ... Recession Obvious

Just got en email from Buds Gun Shop labeled "Top 20 Selling Guns of 2009". I'm sure many of you have received this same email if you ordered from them or made an account. I thought the statistics were pretty interesting.

Seems in this economy guns are still selling but the PRICE people are willing to pay for one is clearly lowering due to the recession.

Ranked in order of most sales. I'm only showing top 10.

#1 Smith & Wesson 9mm Sigma at 249.99 after rebate.

    #2 Sig Sauer 2022 9mm Night Sights Hi Cap w/2 mags - $493

    #3 Smith & Wesson SW40VE .40SW Black/Stainless - $249 After $50 Mail in Rebate!!!

    # 4 Glock 37 45 GAP 4 1/2" 10rd Black Frame - $379

    # 5 Hi-Point 380ACP Two-Tone 8rd - $139

    #6 Springfield XDM 9mm Black 19+1 - $566

    # 7 Remington 870 Express 12g 18" blued, black-synthetic

    #8 Double Star 15 CAR 16" HBAR .223 - $649

    #9 Springfield XD 40S&W 4" with XD Gear - $462

    # 10 Smith & Wesson M&P 9mm 17RD NO MAG SFTY - $535

Pretty blown away the SIGMA is the top selling gun!! .Also pretty shocked the Glock 37 was top 4! Clearly 379 for a "glock" was what did that. Is this low price point due to the odd .45GAP caliber?

Also interesting that only 2 long guns made top 10 and that the 870 is in the tactical configuration. Another interesting stat is that the doublestar AR is the cheapest brand new AR Buds has listed.

I think these stats show people are become more PRICE SENSITIVE when buying guns. I also think these stats represent a growing number of new gun purchasers.

Just like to start a discussion based on these statistics as they really show what's selling given the economy and the public's general gun views.

I refuse to be anti Sigma. Put me on the chopping block. I've never owned one, handled one or fired one. For their price I can't see how it can not be worth it.

Haven't bought a cheap gun in 8 yrs. Don't own any now, either.

But I'd like to think a lot of purchases were new gun owners!
Actually I only started collecting Milsurps 3 years ago. I think I might own about 24...They're cheaper than guns that will most likely never get the opportunity to kill somebody...

I am very happy with my Sigma too, especially after the free trigger job from S&W!

Just because it cheap dont mean it wont work. Some people dont have alot of money and still are able to defend themselves. I commend that! Besides if I remember correctly wasnt High point originally Bee miller? I had one back in 95 and it was awesome. Never missed a beat.

I'd get the Sigma just because it's so cheap, but the $249 after MIR price is for the non-california package ones. The cali-10rd package is an extra $55ish.

See any other guns on that list for $139? Seems pretty simple to me, not a great gun but it goes bang and it doesn't cost much.

I like it when people vote with their wallets and NOT BUY the expensive items. It send a strong signal to manufacturers like banks, car makers, gun makers, gas & oil companies, etc. that their " overpriced days " are over.

IN my opinion, we shooters and gun lovers were suckered and taken advantaged off by the gun manufacturers & ammo makers by jacking up their prices to exhorbitant levels and now we don't have anymore disposable money for indulgence. While I understand capitalism, the last several years we have seen nothing but unconscionable, unbriddled greed from almost all sector of the economy. Now, we are all reaping the consequences of all these.

It is high time we see gun prices & ammo prices some down to sane levels

#3, was the first handgun I ever purchased, I bought it when I first turned 21 and honestly I didn't know anything about it. Back then I never did any reading on test firing at the range before I bought anything. I would just buy it for the price and the ergonomics.
The guy at the counter told me it was better then the Glock and about $200 cheaper. So I bought one, and like everyone didn't care for the trigger. My girlfriend at the time ( now the wife) hated the gun ( but loves my Glock 22 ) , I recently removed the 2 extra trigger springs and added a pachmayer rubber grip and I like the ergonomics better then my Glocks, although I still prefer to shoot my Glocks, the Sigma is not as bad as I used to bame it to be. All in all they are pretty good, cheap guns. Oh yeah and no FTF or FTE while shooting it.

Another great cheap handgun I purchased during the end of the world gun hype was the FUGLY Hi point C9, that honestly I really liked. At first I though oh well its a cheap 9mm, but I actually enjoyed shooting it, the recoil was new to me with the heavy slide, but I will more then likely purchade another one in the future. ( yet another gun I kick myself for selling.......ah I miss that Kimber....damn you Leitung)

Well considering people are scared, lost jobs, afraid of the coming bans.possible bans it does not surprise me. I can see that someone would get a gun even if they simply got it just in case ( psychologically it makes people feel safer. Now if they will or will not use the gun in a situation remains to be seen.
But after the jacked up rates of guns pre and immediately post Obama I can see why the market got saturated fairly fast with purchases. now guns are back at their more realistic sales prices. The only ones who got azzed out are the people who bought at the height of the scare. Now we alreadygot a taste that while guns can be expensive its nothign compared to not finding ammo for the guns. I mean ammo is STILL somewhat hard to find and when it is found its expensive.

Wait a minute. HOW were you suckered and taken advantage of. Since YOU are the one that DECIDES to buy something and PAY the price that is asked for the item how were you suckered and taken advantage of. When you can simply decide it costs too much and walk away? You have a pretty nice pity party going there with the big bad corporations taking advantage of you. i did not see anyone from a gun store twist my arm to buy my M14 or my Saiga 12. or anyone from a bank twist my arm to put me in a bad loan ( just example I woudlnt be stupid enough to take 99% of those "loans")
yeah we are all reaping the consequences of a government that decided that everyone in the US should be able to own a home and they were gonna make it possible for anyone qualified or not to do so, and deregulate pretty much everything and make it a free for all and let banks go unsupervised make billions of dollars off idiot people and then make billions more when those same idiots fail. its not the gun stores fault for selling a gun that is worth 300$ for 600$. Its the idiot on the other side of the counter and the one behind him who are buying them up. I wishI was smart enough to sell some of my guns at the height of the scare. i would of made a crap load more than the gun would be worth. yeah so what I believe in capitalism and profit.

My buddy picked up a high point from a guy sellin it for $50. For $50, he got a gun that will launch a projectile 50% of the time.................as for accuracy.................. At least its good for laughs!
