OK, any Model 12 experts out there?

OK, so here is the deal...

When I load shells into my Model 12, they seem to not want to stay in the magazine tube but will stay when the shell lifter drops down and prevents the shells from being expelled. When you go to to load another one, the shell prior just about flies out.

The question I have is if this is normal? I don't ever remember any other Model 12 that I shot having this issue so I am beginning to think I am missing a part (highly probable, as I did take apart the mag tube and remove the plug, possibly causing me to lose a part)

If I did lose a part, which part would it most likely be? Anyone have a good close-up photo of the loading area on a Model 12?

Here's a schematic. I'm guessing number 28 is missing or broken.

Here is a video of the loading issue.

There should be a shell stop...apparently yours is damaged or missing.

the shell holder only retains the shells while you are cycling the action. In a normal condition the follower retains the shells.

So long as they stay in when the action is cycled, you are experiencing the normal function of a Model 12.

Yeah, word from THR says this is normal. So weird, as I don't remember it being like that in the other two Model 12s that I have owned or shot.

Guess I just have to take a little more time in loading the ol' girl...

just don't think about it or look at what you are doing and it works fine. I hold the shotgun to my shoulder with my forward hand and load with my trigger hand. (not tacticool btw)
