Will a speeding ticket result in a no transaction?

Forgive me if this topic has already been discussed. I couldn't find it using search..

Im a complete noob to handguns and I just got my HSC so I can buy my first gun. I hadn't bought anything yet, and Im wondering.. I recently got a speeding ticket.. Its not overdue or anything, I just havent paid it off yet. Will this prevent me from buying a gun?

        Nope.

However, unpaid stuff can result in a denial. Just don't use your drivers license for the DROS, use your CA ID instead and it will pass no matter what.

Don't the ID and the DL have the same number on it?

Not unless it's a felony speeding ticket.

They sure do -- and one is not supposed to have both. The CA ID card is an alternative state ID for those who do not drive. To get a DL one has to surrender the CA ID card.

But, the sense of the thread is correct. A traffic ticket is an infraction and as long as it does not become an FTA it is not a problem.

Best advice for gun owners is don't get tickets... it attracts law enforcement and a possible search of ones vehicle.

Seriously, I don't think that's true. I used my drivers license when I did my DROS and I had a ticket that I had received a few days prior for driving while talking on my phone. It's no biggie because it's just an infraction.
IF you are worried, do what I did. Go to the DMV and have them run your drivers license. Ask the person there if there are any "flags" on your license. No flags means you don't have anything to worry about. And as long as your ticket is not past the date then you'll likely be fine. So just in case, go in and ask. I did and it gave me peace of mind.

Ok, cool. I have to go into court to clear this ticket by March '10. It's just an infraction. Thanks for the answers.

Same number, but the DROS records them and submits them differently. One is a DL, one is an ID. They are different.

No, that's totally false. You're allowed to have both at the same time. Hell, I GOT mine at the same time while I was renewing my DL. I paid the extra $13 or whatever it was for an ID that I basically hold onto just in case something happens to my DL. They came on the same day in two separate envelopes.

I used to worry about the samething just before doing a DROS. Definitely put the mind at ease after I found out it wouldn't create any complications.
