Visiting California and looking for a range.

Hello all. I'm from MA but I'll be visiting my in-laws in the Oakdale, Manteca, Riverbank area over the next couple of weeks and would like to be able to hit the range while I'm there. I won't be bringing any of my guns but my father-in-law is a gun owner so renting won't be necessary. Unfortunately he just moved from the bay to the Oakdale, Manteca, Riverbank area so he's not familiar with the area yet and doesn't know of any ranges yet. He's going to ask around but I figure where better to ask than here? Can anybody point me in the right direction? Preferably a place that's cheap/free? Thanks for any help.

Teej, Welcome to CalGuns, someone will chime in here shortly and let you know a couple good ranges. In the mean time, lurk around the site, there is tons of cool stuff to read!

Outdoors there is the Manteca Sportsman. About 8.5 miles south of Hwy 120, due south of Manteca. Pistol range, indoor .22 range, blackpowder range, 50 yd rimfire and 100 yd centerfire ranges and three trap/skeet ranges. I think the daily fee for non-members is $15; don't recall how much a round on the shotgun range runs.

There is Barnwood in Ripon, an indoor range. Another outdoor range on the east side of Stockton and a club toward Escalon on River Road.

      Hope this helps a little.

Thanks for the welcome. Have to say I'm a little hesitant to dig around too much. I'm already a member of another board that I spend way too much time on as it is. Sadly I'll probably get hooked here too and spend even more time reading

Thanks for the tip. The Manteca range is a little far from where I'll be but the price is pretty good so it may be worth the drive. The Escalon Sportsman's club appears to be on E River Rd if that's the one you're talking about. Their site only lists trap prices so I'll give them a call. Thanks again for the help.
