Ok real question, I know this is stupid. If you are in your backyard on your property on New Years, is it legal to fire a blank firing handgun? Im talking about one of the permanently modified handguns you see for sale for like $100 in gun magazines that are only capable of shooting blanks. This is a question born out of curiosity, as I neither own one of these, or would want to shoot it on a holiday in my backyard.

I know around here, LASD will be patrolling the streets with patrol cars equipped with shot locaters. I would imagine they couldn't tell the diffrence between a blank and a real shot.

I highly doubt it, it is a firearm and you are still discharging a round, blank or not, and would fall under the law. I could be wrong.

And again, I don't own one of these "guns", I was just curious if it is illegal to fire one within city limits in most places or not. Common sense says it WOULD be illegal, just wondering if someone knows for sure one way or another. As I mentioned this was a really stupid question.
