Where to look for beater guns?

I am looking for a few specific shotguns of a "beater" variety, as in those that function perfectly but look like they have been to hell and back. The question is, where is a good place to look for beater guns? I need something with little to no collector value for a project I want to accomplish...

The guns I am looking for are...


-Winchester Model 12
-Ithaca 37
-Stevens 620

try one of those PD "gun buybacks", I'd just wait outside and ask people as they came in... but you might want someone with a video recorder across the street just in case

Are you being funny or actually serious? If the latter, I did end up hitting the buyback you mentioned and walking away with a gun

As soon as I read you post I knew you wanted to make a riot or trench gun. Good for you!
You should be able to find an old beater of any of those models for under $200. One other I can mention is the Ward's Western Field model 60 which is a Stevens 620A. I found a nice condition blue one in 20ga for $150 at a local gun store up here.
I also have a Stevens 620 Riot with Mil spec markings.
Keep checking the gun shows and bring cash.

I know the Ithaca M37 (pre ~1970s) have a disconnect. Do you plan on adding these on to the beater guns? Trench guns are tons of fun and I was able to try out an old M37 DSPS (i think thats right) model and a IAC/Norinco 1987 trench gun.
