I think you can sell all personal collection. It's a Hardship. What raises red flags if your just buying guns to resell. after so many they want you to have dealers licence.
    Others here will chime in.

If that were the case every person who wanted to sell more than 5 would feign a hardship. What's the legal basis and what exactly does a "red flag" entail?

I was under the impression that it was on the buying side that you were limited to 5 or 6, not the selling?

I'm sure the buying side is limited only by your funds.

It's five handgun transactions in a calendar year.
There is no limit to the amount of handguns you can transfer during one transaction.

So, for instance (hypothetically), if you owned 10 handguns and needed to sell them all due to an emergency.
          - You could sell all 10 to one person or FFL dealer and it would be considered one transaction.
          - You could sell 1 handgun to person A, 1 handgun to person B, 3 handguns to person C & 5 handguns to person D and that would be considered four transactions.

Long gun sales can not be frequent or regular.

So, selling a bunch at once, won't flag you. But, selling a long gun every other friday every month, will get you flagged.
