side mount scope on your SKS?, need a pic

I am about to drill my SKS for the side mount scope, I wanna see where you put your mount. As lined up , mine is all the way to the rear of the receiver (before trimming) to ensure stripperclip use as planned...., but I don't want to step on my dick . Plus, I can't find a photo of a factory installed mount.
    You talking to me?

I installed a side mount PU scope base on a Nagant 1891/30 with no instructions last week, it was kind of scary but the rifle only cost $79 (the mount was $89 ) it came out fine. I did use a drill press and vice holder while drilling. In the case of the Nagant, I was duplicating the historical configuration. Not sure what side mount you're trying to use on the SKS, is it the AK type? But before you drill your SKS receiver .... just know there are integral receiver-scope bases with see thru mount available and cheap (all one piece! just replace existing receiver cover), both top mount and side mount config's -If you're just looking to keep open sights working while the scope is on. The worst problem I had was to file the mounting bolts down a bit because they protruded into the receiver space, I had no nut (off metric size) to put on to first/ back off after - to clear the threads after filing to correct depth.

There's no such thing as a 'factory installed' sks scope mount.

I have a side mount installed on my SKS. I believe it was justified to the rear and flush with the top to avoid ejected casings. Left me with a poor cheekweld (too high).. but it was just for fun. I'll take a picture if I get the chance tonight. I need to sell the darn thing..

It depends. Some Yugos were made into spotters with scopes and there are some, rare, very rare, Russian SKSs with scopes. The Yugo scopes are hard to get, there was only 1 guy importing them and I think he is out.

Here is the Yugo one: http://www.texastradingpost.com/yugo...skssniper.html

sure there is sort of. many of the chinese "para" sks rifles have a side scope mount but few of the scopes were imported. navy arms called them cowboy companion rifles and other funky names. i guess they weren't factory scope mounted maybe importer scope mounted would be more correct. i don't know if they were installed by norinco or navy arms so i can't say for sure. they are very $$$ if you can even find the scopes for sale.
