Multiple "assault rifles" stolen in Concord, owner arrested

This guy may be a dangerously violent meth fiend with scads of illegally converted machine guns, or he may be someone who had several legal but fierce looking rifles stolen, with a former roommate who left a bottle of prescription pills when they moved out. At this point, I don't know, but in either case, this is bad news, and worth looking into.

So, if I report stuff stolen during a home invasion, they have the right to search my house and find hidden assault weapons (not that I have any)?

Surely either the weapons should have been in plain sight (which apparently they weren't) or the drugs were in plain sight, giving cause for a search.

My guess is the drugs were visible.

Great job, Concord PD! One less meth-addled junkie on the street.

It's a shame his guns got moved into the hands of violent criminals, but since he sounds pretty risky in the first place, it's not clear that we're much worse off. If anything, this event may lead to several (more) bad guys getting nailed, based on his testimony.

Maybe a friendly note to Mr. Salonga would be in order to clarify that neither CA-compliant AR-15 style firearms or high-capacity magazines are banned for civilian use. Since the facts of this case are not yet disclosed, the paper should not assume the weapon was configured as an illegal assault weapon.

That said, another instance of drugs + guns = drama.
