One of my hobbies involves traveling into many of the areas she wants to close, where I collect "purty rocks."

Anyways, when I sent her a message once informing her about how turning these areas into wilderness (no vehicle access at all) that she would be killing the hobby, especially for mobility impaired people. Her reply was that we could all use pack animals to access it .

If you have not followed much about the wilderness closures, I highly recommend you should. I don't think hunting is specifically prohibited (in Nat. Mon. and Parks yes, just not Wilderness) but access to these areas will become near-impossible. Some good groups include the Blue Ribbon Coalition (mostly off-roaders) and ALAA (American Lands Access Association).

Just keep in mind, many diverse (and sometimes competing) groups want to keep these areas open. Even if you disagree with some of their activities (more likely don't like the bad-apples, same way we all as gun-enthusiasts don't like the bad-gunners) we all need to co-operate in order to fight the eco-nuts who until recently have had a much bigger voice.
CalGuns Network (CGN) is different from CalGuns Foundation (CGF). Both need our support. I have gold name because I support CGN; plus, I send $10 every two weeks to CGF automatically via online BillPay as described here.

Support CGF by shopping at Amazon!

Not sure but I'll bet we lose a firing range or two out of this.

That is if it goes through.
Firearms are also prohibited in national monuments. This would mean that target shooting is out of the question.

There's truth to that. When it was deemed to overtly draconian (and anti-business, anti-American) to ban cigarettes outright, the legislators went to work pricing cigarettes out of most smokers' reach; those that hung on were then kicked out of restaurants and bars and made to smoke outside. Then it was decided that no one could smoke within fifty feet of a business entrance; hospitals and many other facilities declared their parking lots "campuses" and decreed "No smoking on campus". Then no smoking at certain beaches and parks.
The same strategy will be used in relation to guns. Nope, no one will "take them away" -they'll simply make ammunition cost-prohibitive and then illegal to use darn near everywhere.

As much as I cant stand cigarette smokers, I agree this is Bull S***, and it is exactly what they are trying to do. However, with the NRA, CGF, and SAF, I would say CA is going to start turning in the right direction!

I wonder if that's possible. I've lived in CA for over 45 years... lived through a lot of high-profile gun violence, too, all of which was determined to have been perpetrated by one "lone nut" after another, but which oddly resulted in more rigid controls over the ability of average, law-abiding citizens to purchase/possess firearms. Don't get me wrong, I'm deeply grateful that Calguns and the NRA exist, but from what I've read in the short time I've been here, it seems that the anti-gun mindset is now so aberrant and prevalent that even LEOs panic when they see a perfectly legal shotgun being transported in a truck.

99.9% of Californians don't know that Calguns exists, nor that its Foundation is defending and winning gun-related cases. Meanwhile, 90% of Californians are bombarded with negative gun imagery on everything from Law & Order to the Evening News every day of the week; somehow (it seems to me) the positive aspects of gun ownership need to be expressed to Californians with at least the same repetitiveness and intensity as the negatives are. It's all about perception. When's the last time you saw a Public Service Announcement encouraging you to be a responsible citizen capable of protecting your family while also sharing with them the joys of target/skeet shooting or hunting? Never? There's a reason for that...
