No revolvers but my last 4 purchases for me have been semiauto pistols and 3 of them are Sigs, older German ones and never a problem... The other is an FNP9 and I have 800 or so rounds through it and not one hint of a problem.... Your cursed and the revolver is possessed, I cant fix you so I think you should send me the 617 and I will do an exorcism on it.... won't be able to send it back........ you know you being cursed and all

IMHO, all new firearms should be able to shoot reliably out of the box without being picky on ammo.

Sounds like all 4 of yours guns were American.

I think it is hit and miss and it sounds like you got more than your share of bad ones.
I think every gun has some lemons and I hear about them all the time.

I have a taurus that works perfect and has never given me a single problem, but I meet guys that hate that brand and tell me story after story.

Maybe its just luck, but when you get a good gun, hang on to it.

I bought one gun this year that gave me grief: a brand new Taurus 66 .357 magnum that only shot about 100 rounds then simply stopped rotating. That was traded away and became someone else's problem. Of course the buyer knew all about the history and knew they'd have to send it back but he thought it wasn't that bad so at the range it would only fire ONE round with one round in the cylinder out of seven. I will never buy another Taurus and I've heard about problems with the S&W 617 so instead, I bought a Ruger Mark III SS Hunter 6 7/8" and have yet to try it at the range.

                I expect reliability and accuracy
basically I want to be able to load a gun with off the shelf ammo steel case alluminum or brass and have that gun fire ALL the ammo I shoot without screwing up or having fits. i also expect the gun to be accurate. That means the gun shoud be able to place all the bullets fired within the aimed at area ( granted that makes a difference depending on the shooter) but lets say the owner is fairly proficient
And simplicity of use. Making a gun complicated to use is ridiculous

A reliable unit that shoot what I want when I want... So far so godo with my stuff. Sucks you had all those issues and had to send stuff back as you did.

                    Ditto, ditto, ditto.

I'm not a competition shooter. My shooting is either at the range or "plinking" in the desert, but my purpose for owning guns is for protection of myself and my wife. I can't tolerate a gun that doesn't reliably feed, fire, and eject.

You hit it dead on. American produced items are crap. God love imported stuff! The death of the American economic system is caused by shoddy American quality opening the door for better quality imported products, most times cheaper too.

You are correct up to a point. American products have gotten better but is it simply a case of a little too late? We make products that are as good or better than imported stuff, but we lost a lot of the consumer confidence we once had in our own products

This is pretty much what I'd expect as well. If I'm buying a regular production gun, obviously I'm not expecting custom-grade quality, but I do expect the gun to perform reasonably well and not have parts breakage or require adjustments immediately.

It's just like if I buy a new car. If I buy a Toyota corolla, obviously I'm not expecting a Ferrari, but I do expect that I should not have major issues with it until it has many thousands of miles on it.

Really?..... I bet a lot of what you think is really American made is a hodge podge of imported parts slapped together and then sold under an American name badge. My Chevrolet pickup has bumpers made in Mexico, a radio made in Canada, a swiss made clock, and power window controls made in Germany, just to name a few of the parts I have noticed. So when you "Buy American" are you really sure it's American?
