Clark County Commissioner Tom Collins is scheduled to fire the first shot to mark the opening of a new $61 million county shooting park.
County officials say the Saturday morning ceremony will mark the opening of the first phase of the sprawling facility for weekend use through Jan. 3.
The recreational public shooting park has been in development for several years. It is at the north end of Decatur Boulevard, about five miles north of the Las Vegas Beltway.
It will have trap, skeet, archery, pistol, rifle and shotgun ranges, plus a pro shop, classrooms and cafeteria. It'll also have a parking area for 80 recreational vehicles.
The facility is funded with money raised from the sale of federal public lands in southern Nevada.
