It says may be found guilty, if the kid had killed himself that would have been a different story but a broken bone is worse than some 22 shots especially in the leg.

No it's not - bad parenting that doesn't teach children not to play with them is a recipe for disaster. guns are just a tool no more dangerous for children to be playing with than a bandsaw

Your idea of parenting and the laws in place to protect children are [thankfully] not the same.

        PC Section 12035-12036

" In most cases, if you keep any loaded firearm within any premise which is under your custody or control and know or reasonably should know that a child (person under 18 years of age) is likely to gain access to the firearm, you may be guilty of a felony if a child gains access to that firearm and thereby causes death or injury to any person unless the firearm was in a secure locked container or locked with a locking device that rendered it inoperable."

        Bring on the charges.

That's California PC isn't it? The story took place in Colorado... Besides if it was in California it wouldn't be stored illegally anyway according to the PC you posted. You just become responsible for any death or injury caused by a child gaining access to it.

Thieves are the lowest form of life out there, except for liberal politicians, of course, but that's redundant.

You are right, not in CA, CO does not have those requirements.
