    Ciudad Juarez

saw a documentary the other night on National Geographic about kidnaps, ransoms, and the killings in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico. there was part of the documentary that just bugged the sh*t out me.

they stated that most of the guns that are seized after a fire fight or bust are from America. the reason they said it was because the rifles they show were manufactured in the USA. the rifle they used for an example was a Colt AR15 that said "Made in the USA".

i began making a comment about fact checking before saying where the firearms came from and my wife states it makes sense since it's close to the TX border. i reply by sayin that because my clothes ae made in other countries doesn't mean that's where I purchased them. i supported that it could have come from other S American countries or overseas for all I know.

anyway, anyone know what the percentage of firearms that make to Mexico from the US?

Also, it seems like the Mexican army use 7.62x51, and they are issued HKs.

Why would a drug dealer/organized criminal buy semi automatic weapons when they could get fully automatic weapons for cheaper from illegal sources?

National G is full of $@#$.

This subject's actually been discussed here before, and I believe that it was shown that while sizeable, the percentage of firearms seized in Mexico originating from the U.S. is still significantly below 50%, and that includes weapons from the government given or sold to Mexico and subsequently stolen or lost.

The Mexican Armed Forces actually use quite a few weapons. They use HK G-3s of course, which is what we often seee them with, but they also use the FAL as a secondary battle rifle.

They do make considerable use of assault carbines as well, including the FX-05 (in both 5.56 and 6.8 for spec ops) and AR-15 platforms, such as the M-4A1, M-16A1 and A2 and others; I think they may even use the semi-auto variants as well.

Ceremonial uses aside, some military forces like the Rurales still use some of their hand-me-downs, such as the 7mm and .30-06 Mexican Mausers, the 7mm Mondragon rifle (the first semi-auto battle rifle I know of), M-1 Garand, M1903A3 Springfield, and the M-1 and M-2 Carbines.

Machine pistols include the FN P90, the HK UMP series, and the HK MP-5 series.

Machine guns include the M-249/MINIMI, the MAG-58, M-1919, the M-60 series, the Mendoza LMG, the HK-21E, the CETME Ameli, and the good 'ol M-2. They also use 20mm Oerlikons and I think they may also use the M-134 and GAU-19 in limited amounts.

For sniper rifles they use the HK MSG-90, the Barrett M82, and the M-24.

Pistols include the FN FiveseveN, the M1911 and 1911A1, the M-9 and other Beretta 92s, Glock 17 and Glock 21, and the HK USP 9, 40, and 45.

They use for grenades the M-203, the Milkor MGL, the CIS 40, the Mk19, and various rifle and hand grenades.

The Remington 870, Remington 1100, and Mossberg 500 series comprise their shotguns.

Police use old M-16s, AKs, HK-33s, G-36s, and some of the weapons used by the army like the FAL and G-3 and the machine pistols and handguns (along with other handguns), the M-1 series carbines, the M-60, the MINIMI, and a few other items.

I saw the commercial for that show. It was hosted by one of the Ling sisters, the girl that got busted in N. Korea, and Clinton bailed her behind out! I will pass!
