92fs or P226

I love my Beretta 92 but would never use it as a HD weapon. It is a range gun only. If I owned a Sig 226 it would fall in the same category. The problem with them is not reliability or accuracy. It is the fact that transitioning from DA to SA in a panic scenario is just way too difficult. Try it at the range. Get a quick sight picture and squeeze off 5 shots keeping them on paper as quick as you can. That target on your best day is going to increase by 50% or more in a self defense situation. I think the majority of us here are pretty good shooters and understand the difficulty with this. It can be overcome but why have a HD gun that is so difficult to master? Glocks, HK USP's and 1911's just to mention a few don't have this problem. The trigger pull is the same every shot and is much easier to master. This is just my opinion. SammyComment

i have always felt the beretta's weight is just too heavy for the 9mm round that it shoots. the sig is a lighter gun and as for myself, i'd go with an older w german model. there are other reasons i am a sig man but felt i'd point out the weight factor.Comment

I had both a 92FS Inox and a P226 once. I still have the P226.Comment

+1. I own an M9 but have shot both. They both feel and shoot well but the Beretta feels much nicer to me. Get what works with the features you want. Also, the 92fs and m9 are cheaper than the p226 if I am remembering correctly.which ever one fits better in your hands and has the functions and features you like.Replying to craigslist for casual encounters is like pokemon with STDs. Gotta catch em all.If Hell ever needed a operations manual all it would need is a copy of California's lawsComment

Sig.
The 92 is a good looking gun, but my main complaints are too many external parts, a long trigger pull, and an awkwardly positioned safety. I've helped many junior Marines after hours on the pistol range. When they are having problems shooting the M9, I just hand them my P229. Their shooting miraculously improves and gives them confidence in knowing what they are actually capable of. This pretty much narrows it down to practicing a smoother trigger pull on the M9 and gives them an area to focus their attention.
Love the Sigs and wish that's what we were issued. Awesome trigger pull and accuracy right out of the box. No unnecessary safety and the controls are easier to reach. The only downside...the price.Comment

My P226 has never malfunctioned or jammed. Ever."We're surrounded.....that simplifies our problem."

-Dimitri, I'm sorry they're jamming your radar and flying so low, but they're trained to do it. You know, it's, it's initiative!-Comment

Another quick vote... I already own three SiGs, including a 226, so for the sake of merely collecting I'd probably go with the Beretta.
But if it's something I need to bet my life on then it's SiG without question or hestitation.

I prefer Glocks in 9mm but I too got a 92FS INOX for my full size 9mm. They are beautiful guns.Comment
